Mom-Shaming: Perspective of Mothers – Survey Report

Motherhood is non-stop decision making and trial error. Starting with the decision about the child’s feeding methods, sleep habits, education, to daily decisions about the child’s discipline and health/safety. According to a survey from US Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan, six out of ten mothers of children ages 5 and under have been criticized for their parenting choices. This so-called “Mom-shaming” comes most frequently from their family.

Regarding this matter, JAKPAT has conducted a survey towards 574 mother respondents in order to see how Indonesian mothers perspectives and experiences regarding Mom-shaming. This survey focus on 2 topics; mothers who have experienced shaming or judging and mothers who actually have the potential to become mom shamer.
